Overview

CEDAR for Pro Tools brings the best audio restoration to Pro Tools® III and IV TDM systems. The System comprises three elements: a host Pro Tools system, one or more CEDAR MacDSP boards, and one or more CEDAR for Pro Tools software modules.

The Host System

The host for any CEDAR for Pro Tools System is a Pro Tools 3 or Pro Tools 4 TDM workstation with one or more free NuBus slots.

The MacDSP Boards

CEDAR for Pro Tools requires considerable DSP power and, since conventional 'integer' DSPs are not appropriate to CEDAR's complex algorithms, CEDAR Audio has developed the MacDSP. Providing 25MFlops per channel, this board also offers 24-bit I/O and 40-bit floating point processing. It is available in two versions: the MacDSP/C acts as the audio restoration platform, while the MacDSP/E allows you to add further audio channels or additional CEDAR modules up to a maximum of 16 simultaneous real-time processes.

Audio Modules

Each MacDSP board will run any of the CEDAR for Pro Tools Audio Modules, and each board in the System will support two independent monophonic processes simultaneously, or a single stereo process. You can place these processes in the Insert points, across the Auxiliary busses, or any combination of these, subject to the maximum number of processes avilable.

You can use all three CEDAR for Pro Tools processes simultaneously, provided that you have a suitable number of MacDSP boards installed. This means that you can pass your audio straight through them, hearing the results of the processing in real-time, and auditioning any adjustments you make as the audio is playing. CEDAR for Pro Tools also supports real-time World to Disk, Disk to World, and Disk to Disk processing modes.
